Meet the Pilots

JEFF COOK, an avid helicopter enthusiast and pilot from Lone Mountain Aviation, has seamlessly merged his passion for flying with his career. With extensive flight experience exceeding 10,000 hours, Jeff has explored diverse realms of helicopter aviation, including assisting air ambulance teams, fighting wildfires for the US Forest Service, supporting construction projects with heavy lifting, and even making appearances in movies like “Need for Speed,” “Tenant,” and the renowned TV show “Yellowstone”. His personal favorite flight takes him over the picturesque landscape of  Ted Turner’s Flying D Ranch and through the awe-inspiring Spanish Peaks. When not airborne, Jeff finds solace in camping and fishing with his family and embarking on thrilling bear and mountain lion hunts with his two boys and six faithful hounds.

DILLON KUNDERT, an experienced pilot with Lone Mountain Aviation, brings 20 years of helicopter piloting expertise to the table.  He owes his entrance into the field to the encouragement of his high school friend Jeff Cook, a fellow pilot at Lone Mountain Aviation, as well as his aircraft mechanic father. Dillon’s career has predominantly been in air medical services, boasting over 700 successful medical flights and a notable contribution in aerial firefighting. Flight hours 5,000+.   The most awe-inspiring sight he has witnessed from the sky is the Northern Lights dancing over Montana.  However, his favorite flight path takes him over the captivating Spanish Peaks, where he often encounters mountain goats, elk, and buffalo amidst the jagged peaks and serene alpine lakes.  Beyond flying, Dillon indulges in his passions for hunting, hiking, and restoring old cars, often accompanied by his wife and two kids.

JORDAN NIETERS is an accomplished helicopter pilot with over 3,000 flight hours, specializing in powerline construction. His diverse experience includes firefighting, game surveys, aerial application, and tour/photo flights, showcasing his versatility and expertise in the aviation field. With extensive local area knowledge gained from years of snowmobiling in the nearby mountains, Jordan offers a unique perspective on the landscapes he navigates.

One of Jordan’s favorite flights takes him through Buck Ridge and Taylor’s Fork, en route to West Yellowstone, crossing over the breathtaking Yellowstone National Park. When he’s not in the cockpit, Jordan enjoys quality time at the lake with his wife and two children during the summer months. In the winter, he embraces the snow, indulging in backcountry snowmobiling and skiing at local ski hills.

ROBERT SPERRY, an experienced pilot, brings 15 years of helicopter piloting experience to Lone Mountain Helicopters. Rob always loved aviation, even as a child, and he was thrilled to fulfill his dream of becoming a pilot in his hometown of Bozeman, Montana. With a diverse background, he has 5,000+ hours of flight time. This includes firefighting, both domestically and internationally, for the US Forest Service, Cal Fire, Canada, Indonesia, and South Korea, construction, pipeline reclamation, and power-line work for Northwest Energy. In addition, he has lifted two T-Rex fossils out of archaeological excavation sites for movement to museums. His favorite flight path is over the mountains, especially the Spanish Peaks, and valleys around Bozeman, Montana.

When not flying, he enjoys spending time outdoors, especially hiking, camping, and fishing with his beautiful wife of 22 years and beloved German Shepherd dogs. Growing up in Montana, he loves hunting elk and deer, his passion being archery. Also, a skilled craftsman, he enjoys working in his woodworking shop and creating cabinets, furniture, and most wood projects.
